Auburn
Washington is the host city for the “7th Annual Holiday
Gridiron Classic” Junior Football Tournament. Auburn is located approximately 28 miles south of down-town Seattle and
offers visitors all the warmth and charm of small town America.
The
“Holiday Gridiron Classic” committee is anxious for you to spend Thanksgiving with us and experience the excitement
of junior football action!
Tournament Venue
The
Holiday Gridiron Classic football games will be played at Auburn Memorial Stadium. Through the support of the Auburn School
District, participating team and fans are provided with a quality facility for this extraordinary event! Locker rooms facilities
will be available to participating teams.
Tournament
games
Each Team is required to weigh in and have all tournament documents
verified prior to the start of the first game. Each player will be "tagged" as an eligible participant at that time.
Competition will begin Thursday, November 26th. Each Team is guaranteed to play two games. The tournament design consists
of six divisions each with four teams per division. Winners from game one in each division will compete against each other
in game two and the same will work for the losers from game one.
The games consist of four 10 min quarters with
a 15 min half time. Teams are encouraged to bring their cheer squads for halftime entertainment. A sound system will be available
for cheer squads. All game Officials are certified.
Match-ups are determined by Team Rosters ages and weights. What makes this tournament unique is
that we site scout in order to determine the best match-ups. In addition to scouting, Teams are required to submit game films.
The film will be reviewed by the tournament committee. The goal of the tournament committee is quality Junior Football.
Tournament
Philosophy
1. The Holiday Gridiron Classic was established to provide an opportunity for youth football
teams to extend their regular season and showcase their skills against teams from various parts of the western region of the
country and Canada. The tournament is not designed to determine the best youth football teams in the West.
2. The tournament is open
to youth football teams with players 8-14 years of age. Teams are accepted for entry regardless of their won-loss record.
3.
Teams who are committed to fair play and acceptance of the rules and procedures outlined by Mountain Northwest will be guaranteed
entry as long as space remains available.
Tournament Eligibility
All
youngsters are eligible to participate in the Holiday Gridiron Classic so long as the player:
- Is 8-14 years of age as of September 1st (copy of Birth Certificate
req.)
- Has their name
on an official Team Roster.
- Does not exceed by 25 lbs. the average weight classification
of their team division. These players can participate but only as an O/L or D/L and will not be allowed to advance the Football.
Team
Representative
Each team will designate an information officer who will serve
as the TEAM REP. The Team Representative is responsible for all communications with Mountain Northwest’s staff and ensuring
compliance with all documents and deadlines required by the Mountain Northwest Football It is recommended that the Team
Representative is not the head coach.
Tournament
